Born in India, Kalpna Khurana gained a BA degree in Hindi, sitar, classical dance and political science. After living in several countries including Zambia, where her two daughters were born, and Fiji island where her son was born, the Khuranas moved to England for their children's education.

Sadly, living in England was not that easy 40 years ago. At that time integration wasn't popular and many people from ethnic minorities faced harassment on a day to day basis, including the Khurana family. When they moved to Cheshire, Kalpna's daughter, Leena, faced a lot of problems at school and was racially bullied by a group of girls, as well as being bullied for being an outstanding student. She has been scarred for life.

After this huge upheaval, Kalpna realised that there was a lot of bullying in the schools in England, and decided to do something about it. She felt the community really needed cultural integration. She has since been working tirelessly for 15 years to bring people from different backgrounds closer together, to live in harmony. Through organizing various culutral diversity events, including Indian dance, drumming, music and yoga, she has brought a lot more meaning into many people's lives.

Harmony's membership is free. Demographically, many of Harmony's members are partially disabled, and either elderly or very young. Many of the members find therapeutic relief from participating in dance, music and yoga sessions. The Association has so far been sponsored by founder and honorary chairperson, Kalpna Khurana, and her family members across the world, including in India and America. Kalpna is looking for sponsors and volunteers (who will be paid for out of pocket expenses). Harmony also raises funds for charities, in previous years Harmony has helped to raise as much as 12,000 pounds for charities such as Henshaws society for the blind, Macmillan and Children in need.
